When I trained as a doctor – they completely left out any mention of how to any mention of panic attack! I qualified with no idea how to cure panic attacks. I had some idea of the symptoms of panic disorder, but had no clue how to stop a panic attack.
When finally patients would ask me ‘why do people have panic attacks’ I had to guess, because it just wasn’t something that was considered important in my medical training. Even though its obviously very important if you suffer the signs and symptoms of panic attacks.
When you get into a panic heart attack symptoms may even come to your mind, because your heart races, you may feel breathless and sweaty and even have sweating and tingling in your hands and feet. You probably feel faint and even as if you are about to die.
Later I had some post grad training from a psychologist who taught us all about signs symptoms of panic attack and the conventional way to deal with the panic disorder. His method was to understand the physiology of panic attacks and reverse the symptoms by breathing into a paper bag.
Later – before I trained in effective methods of personal development – a friend (a consultant anaesthetist) and I were on a therapy break in the Greek Islands when
another participant had a very bad panic attack. We went to help the lady concerned using the paper bag method, but our meditation teacher brushed us aside and explained we had it all wrong.
She wanted to show us not only how to stop a panic attack but the best cure for panic attacks – which she explained was to support the sufferer through the attack – allowing her to experience the sensations and discover they did not kill her.
It worked for that lady and that method is great if you have access to a trained therapist right at the time you are having one of your panic attacks. However, for most people this is not an option and so I finally found a method that is GUARANTEED to work to stop a panic attack and to cure panic attacks for good -
